Plant Your Tree: Plant Today, Grow Tomorrow
In Argentina, Maison Fenestraz invites its guests to take part in an initiative that brings together nature, the passing on of values and a commitment to local communities.
At House of Jasmines, in Salta, as well as at Estancia El Colibrí, in the province of Córdoba, nature lies at the heart of the guest experience. It shapes the landscapes, inspires our cuisine and is woven into daily life at our estancias.
It was in this setting that the desire to go one step further gave rise to “Planta tu Árbol” – “Plant Your Tree”, an initiative carried out at our two Argentine Maisons as part of the Relais & Châteaux and Slow Food Food for Change campaign.
The idea is simple: to invite our guests to plant a tree during their stay and, in their own way, contribute to preserving the places they discover.
One Tree Planted, One Story Begins
Through Planta tu Árbol, every guest has the opportunity to plant their own tree in the grounds of House of Jasmines or Estancia El Colibrí.
The selected native and fruit tree species gradually help enrich the vegetation across the estates, encourage biodiversity and contribute to soil regeneration.
Beyond its environmental impact, however, planting a tree is also a deeply symbolic gesture.
It takes only a few moments to create a special connection with a place: the tree will remain long after the person who planted it has left, continuing to grow with each passing season.
It is another way to keep a memory of a journey through Argentina — not by taking something home, but by leaving something behind to take root.
From Salta to Córdoba, a Project Supporting Local Communities
Planta tu Árbol was also designed so that each tree planted can have an impact beyond the boundaries of our estancias.
Guests who take part in the experience make a minimum contribution to cover the cost of the tree. Should they wish to contribute more, the additional amount is entirely dedicated to supporting initiatives and projects led by our estancias. The funds raised, together with the fruit produced by the planted trees, are used to support educational projects at local schools with which our teams maintain close ties throughout the year.
At House of Jasmines, at the foot of the Andes, the project supports La Merced Chica School, located near the estancia.
At Estancia El Colibrí, the initiative benefits Santa Catalina School, in the province of Córdoba.
Contributions may, for example, help fund English lessons or meet other needs identified each year together with the schools’ management teams.
In this way, every tree planted creates a connection between travellers, our teams and the communities that bring these regions to life.
House of Jasmines: Planting the Future at the Foot of the Andes
Just a few kilometres from Salta, House of Jasmines Relais & Châteaux is surrounded by expansive grounds, with the Andes rising in the background.
Here, Planta tu Árbol naturally forms part of a philosophy in which the land plays a central role.
The estate has its own organic vegetable garden, where fruit, vegetables and aromatic herbs are grown throughout the seasons. Harvested just steps from the Maison, this produce then makes its way into the restaurant kitchens, contributing to a cuisine deeply connected to its surroundings.
Planting a tree at House of Jasmines extends this relationship with the land and gives guests the opportunity to play their own part in the life of the estate.
Estancia El Colibrí: Preserving the Land in the Heart of the Córdoba Countryside
At Estancia El Colibrí Relais & Châteaux, Planta tu Árbol takes root in a different landscape: the Argentine countryside and the wide-open spaces of the province of Córdoba.
Here too, the organic vegetable garden provides the kitchens with fresh, seasonal produce grown directly on the estate.
But the estancia’s commitment to preserving its land goes even further. The estate also operates a farm based on the principles of holistic agriculture, EOV-certified for its regenerative livestock farming model.
This approach aims, among other things, to improve soil health, preserve natural ecosystems and promote animal welfare.
Planta tu Árbol therefore forms part of a commitment that is lived every day: caring for an exceptional environment while giving those who discover it the opportunity to play an active role in its preservation during their stay.
A Different Way to Travel
Staying at an Argentine estancia means discovering a culture, a cuisine and remarkable landscapes. With Planta tu Árbol, it also offers the opportunity to help preserve them.
A tree planted today will continue to evolve long after the journey has ended. It will grow alongside the estate, welcome new seasons and become a quiet reminder of those who once planted it.
Through this shared initiative at House of Jasmines and Estancia El Colibrí, Maison Fenestraz seeks to make hospitality an experience that brings travellers closer to the places and communities that welcome them.
Because some travel memories are meant to be brought home. Others are meant to be planted.
